STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has received a $17.3 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy for the production of four 30mm Mk 46 mod 2 gun weapon systems.
The weapon systems are remotely operated, using a high-velocity cannon for shipboard self-defense against small, high-speed surface targets. The systems are part of the Littoral Combat Ship Gun Weapon Systems program and for the future USS Lyndon B. Johnson (DDG 1002).
Work will be performed in Sterling Heights, Mich.; Anniston, Ala.; Lima, Ohio; Tallahassee, Fla.; and Scranton, Pa.
