  • Ford Ranger: Militarised for the British Army, with a ‘special edition’ available for select stakeholders.

ANNOUNCEABLES

Ajax

  • Ajax is delivering in support of CGS’s objective to increase fighting power, including doubling the lethality of the British Army by 2027 and triple it by 2030. One hundred and eighty-five vehicles in the Ajax family have been built in Merthyr Tydfil, and the latest of these at the capability drop 3 standard are now being fielded with the British Army (Household Cavalry Regiment) in readiness for the Armoured Cavalry Programme IOC (Initial Operating Capability) by the end of 2025.
  • Vehicle trials have displayed Ajax’s battle-winning capability, with more than 35,000km covered and 5,000 rounds of CT40 ammunition fired during Reliability Growth Trials. The Army has also been putting the vehicle through its paces in trials in Sweden (cold weather) and the Middle East (hot weather).
  • AJAX’s Fire Control System will be upgraded to enable firing of CTAI’s 40mm air-burst ammunition for use against ground-based and aerial targets. This upgrade means Ajax will be enabled to double down on its lethality capabilities, providing further resilience and versatility to its primary reconnaissance role.

Foxhound:

  • After a phase of rapid design work with our customer, the first Command and Control (C2V) variant conversions of existing Foxhounds have been completed by General Dynamics and delivered to the British Army. A total of 52 will be delivered by March 2025.
  • Discussions are underway with the British Army about future modifications and buys of Foxhound, following an announcement in July.

Ford Ranger:

  • Following release of the UK MoD’s Land Mobility Programme (LMP) Public Information Notice, General Dynamics announces that it will offer the Ford Ranger for the Light Mobility Vehicle (LMV) opportunity, in collaboration with partners at Ricardo and Ford.
  • Based on Europe’s best-selling pickup, the NCAP5-rated Ford Ranger brings class-leading levels of safety and is backed by a global parts and service network and telematic fleet management solution to minimise through-life costs whilst maximising reliability and availability.
  • The modular, high-volume platform provides the foundation for a range of adaptations including increased payload and electrical power generation.

SOLUTIONS DEMONSTRATED

General Dynamics Land Systems will demonstrate at DVD numerous innovative platforms that will be key components of the British Army’s ‘integrated force’:
